Seven months ago, I reached a point many solopreneurs and consultants eventually face. My business was successful. I was scaling personal brands for healthcare executives and technology leaders, demand was strong, and the work was meaningful. But growth had stalled. No matter how hard I worked, there were only so many hours in the day and only so many clients I could personally serve. I was operating at capacity, trading time for money at the peak of my career.
That moment forced an uncomfortable question. Was this as big as the business could get, or was I missing something fundamental about how scale actually works?
Like most professionals, I had already experimented with AI tools. Generative AI helped with writing and ideation, but it didn’t change how my business functioned. The real shift came when I discovered agentic AI.
Agentic AI is different. It doesn’t just respond to prompts. It understands context, plans multi-step workflows, makes decisions, executes tasks, and improves based on results. Instead of helping me do work faster, agentic AI allowed me to redesign how work moved through my business entirely.
This was the difference between automation and transformation.
Through my work with entrepreneurs and institutions, I’ve learned that funding barriers are rarely about a lack of talent or discipline. They’re about how the system was designed.
Traditional finance still relies heavily on relationship banking and familiar signals. Who you know. Where you went to school. Whether your business fits a narrow, standardized model. Many minority founders were never positioned inside these networks to begin with.
Because of this, Black and Hispanic entrepreneurs are far more likely to self-fund or rely on informal capital. Research confirms what I see in practice: higher denial rates, higher interest offers, and fewer second chances, even when credit risk is comparable.
The consequence is a compounding disadvantage. Without affordable capital, scaling is slow. Without scale, businesses are labeled “too risky.” The system reinforces its own conclusions.
Once I implemented agentic AI systems, my role changed. I stopped being the bottleneck. AI began handling lead research, CRM updates, follow-ups, and content workflows in the background. Processes that once required constant manual effort became intelligent systems that ran continuously.
The impact was immediate. My time shifted away from execution and toward strategy, relationships, and vision. Within a year, that shift contributed to my move from #32 to #3 Global Thought Leader in Personal Branding. More importantly, it proved that scale doesn’t come from working harder. It comes from building systems that think.
What surprised me most is how few businesses are making this leap. AI adoption is rising quickly, but most small businesses are still using AI at a surface level. They’re experimenting, not scaling. Only a small percentage are building agentic systems that deliver compounding results.
That gap is the opportunity. Businesses using agentic AI are seeing higher productivity, faster execution, improved customer experience, and stronger revenue per employee. Not because they have more resources, but because their systems work smarter.
Agentic AI allows small teams to operate with efficiency once reserved for enterprise organizations.
This realization reshaped my mission. After 30 years away, I returned to Omaha to build AI accelerator programs through 5 STAR BDM. My focus is giving solopreneurs and minority-owned businesses access to practical, ROI-driven agentic AI systems.
These aren’t experiments or theory. They are working systems designed to remove friction, reduce burnout, and create sustainable growth. When access to intelligent systems is democratized, opportunity expands.
The AI revolution isn’t coming. It’s already here. The question is whether you continue relying on manual effort and hustle, or redesign your business around intelligent systems.
Agentic AI is not a threat to creativity, leadership, or human connection. It’s a force multiplier for those willing to lead. The businesses that understand this now won’t just keep up with change. They’ll define the next era of growth.
I didn’t get here alone—this win belongs to my clients, partners, and supporters. Let’s keep pushing forward together.
